Scientists in Year 2

FLOAT OR SINK

We conducted an experiment with water(fresh and salt) and eggs. We were trying to find whether an egg would sink or float in fresh or salt water.

One egg floated and the other sank.

We enjoyed the experiment.

Mathematicians in Year 2

We are learning about how to flip, slide and turn 2D shapes.

We made pictures out of different 2D shapes. We had to name the shape and write down how many sides and corners.

We made 3D shapes out of toothpicks and blutak then we drew them.

We played a game First to 40. In this game you work with a partner. One person rolls the dice. If you roll a 6 you put 6 counters on the board. The other person then has a turn. The first person to get to 40 wins.

Aliens in Year 2

As part of our Bounce Back program the students participated in an activity where they had to make an alien mask. Students were asked to imagine that two new students had enrolled in their class, a boy and a girl. They are both from another planet. They communicate by sign language and no one understands. They are only half a metre high.
They discussed;
* How would they feel ?
*What kind of extra support would these new students need ?
*What could the class do to help them settle ?
*What classroom procedures could we change to support them ?

Year 2 Scientists

Year 2 conducted an experiment today. We wanted to find out if sugar, salt and flour would dissolve in water. We found that sugar mostly dissolved depending on how much we stirred it. Salt dissolved in water but flour did not.

Year 2 show their artisitic talents

Year 2 having been studying the art work of Monet as part of our unit on Waterways.  They have painted a reproduction of Monet's "Waterlillies"

Year 2 and The Good Samaritan

Year 2 have been studying the parable of The Good Samaritan. They have made their own scripture story puppets and they are practicing retelling the story in groups.
